Last year we provided information on IYM couples involved in long-term missionary work. This year we want to encourage Friends to step outside of their comfort zones and embark on short-term mission trips or develop outreach ministries in the community.
Since 1995, the IYM Youth Missions Scholarship fund has provided assistance to young people sharing the love of Christ around the world. In 2000, we helped 15 young people from IYM meetings participate in mission fields. This summer they traveled to Chicago, South Carolina, Jamaica, Spain, and Botswana.
To encourage adults to follow the examples set by our youth, the Missions Committee has established an IYM Adult Missions Scholarship fund beginning in the year 2001. Guide-lines for the fund have been established and can be picked up at our display table at the IYM sessions or by sending a request to the IYM Missions Committee, c/o Indiana Yearly Meeting Office, 4715 North Wheeling Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
